Ph. D. program:

The department of physics at National Institute of Technology Silchar offers a doctorate program both in experimental as well as theoretical physics. Students in this program are trained through rigorous course work covering basic as well as advanced level courses before starting their research work. The major research areas in the department are Condensed Matter Physics (Theory and Experiment) and High Energy Physics (Theory and Phenomenology). At present, the strength of research scholars is about 16 who are working under the supervision of 10 faculty members of the department . The admission advertisement usually appears twice in a year, in April/May and September/October of each year in newspapers as well as institute web page.  The selection test is usually held in July/December every year followed by an interview.
