Research Group

  • Our research group works in the broad areas of Theoretical High Energy Physics, Quantum Gravity, String Theory, and Quantum Field Theory, with a primary focus on holography and gauge/gravity duality. We investigate fundamental questions concerning the quantum structure of spacetime, black holes, and strongly coupled quantum systems using modern theoretical frameworks such as the AdS/CFT correspondence, warped conformal field theories (WCFTs), and SYK models.

A major direction of our research is the study of holographic quantum information, including quantum entanglement, entanglement negativity, and their role in understanding emergent spacetime and black hole physics. We are also interested in black hole thermodynamics, quantum chaos, quantum criticality, and the thermodynamic geometry of gravitational systems. Another important aspect of our work explores the application of holographic methods to strongly correlated quantum matter, including superconductivity, transport phenomena, non-equilibrium dynamics, and condensed matter systems at finite temperature and density.

The group actively explores both established and emerging directions in holography, including near-AdS/near-CFT correspondences, warped holography, and extensions beyond conventional AdS/CFT duality. Our aim is to develop deeper theoretical insights into quantum gravity while uncovering novel connections between high-energy physics, quantum information, and many-body quantum systems. We welcome motivated students and collaborators interested in these interdisciplinary frontiers of modern theoretical physics.

CURRICULUM VITAE

Introduction [Biosketch]

  • Dr. Pankaj Chaturvedi, born on 10 July 1987 in Uttar Pradesh, India, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar. He obtained his B.Sc. in Physics from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University (2008), followed by an M.Sc. in Physics from IIT Kanpur (2010), where he worked on thermodynamic geometry and phase transitions of AdS braneworld black holes. He completed his Ph.D. in Theoretical High Energy Physics from IIT Kanpur (2017) with research focused on AdS/CFT correspondence, holographic superconductors, and quantum phase transitions under the supervision of Prof. Gautam Sengupta.
  • Following his Ph.D., Dr. Chaturvedi held postdoctoral research positions at the Yau Mathematical Sciences Center, Tsinghua University, Beijing (2017–2020) and Ariel University, Israel (2022–2023), where he pursued research in string theory, quantum gravity, gauge/gravity duality, and strongly coupled quantum systems. His research interests span Theoretical High Energy Physics, Quantum Field Theory, String Theory, Black Hole Physics, Theoretical Cosmology, and Holography, with particular emphasis on AdS/CFT correspondence, quantum information, black hole thermodynamics, holographic condensed matter systems, and beyond-AdS/CFT dualities.
  • Dr. Chaturvedi has contributed extensively to areas such as holographic entanglement, black hole thermodynamics, holographic superconductivity, quantum critical phenomena, and quantum gravity, and actively collaborates with national and international research groups. In addition to research, he has been involved in teaching, mentoring students, organizing scientific activities, and contributing to the academic development of theoretical physics.
